The Pin-up ladies!

A pin-up girl is a model whose pictures see wide appeal as pop culture. Pin-ups are intended for informal display. Pin-up girls are glamour models, fashion models, and actresses. They began on the 40's but they were more typical on the 50's after the Second World War because they were considered as "sex symbols". They used to apear on magazines and calendars and also as image of many brands. And one of their most popular objects on pictures was the italian motorcycle: Vespa. These are some pin-up girls examples and the last one is me with my pin-up calendar bought in Rome last february! So soon I will be able to upload often. The next item: Vespas & MODS.

Fashion is not only fashion

Hi! My name is Úrsula, I'm from Barcelona and this is my first blog.

In my Research Project I'm going to talk about fashion since the Second World War until Nowadays. How we've changed in less than a century in the way of dreasing up. Maybe today we are not as modern as we think, maybe the clothes we think that are in fashion had been invented before. How have we changed?

Since last year, more or less, I could see that the main part of the most comercial and international fashion brands are founding their desings in retro fashion. At the begining, the idea amused me, because I always had found "cool" antigue clothes for women, especially in old films. And I love opening my grand-mother's wardrobe. She has worked on a shoe's factory in the Industrial Revolution in Barcelona arround the 50's, and then my mum learnt to be modist. By when I grew up, I could understand that fashion isn't just fashion; fashion has an history and evolution and we shouldn't wear retro clothes just for fashion today. It was then when I thought that I would know all about retro, and all about what we used to wear. So that's just what I'm going to do, I'm going to learn about fashion history and everything that had hit in each epoque, and the most important part of this researching project: What about people who now wear "retro" in our cities? What they know about the history of their style? Are they concerned? Or they just do it for fun, to be in fashion?

I don't know how often I will be able to update, but I hope you will enjoy my blog!
